Full Circle
Well today started off pretty rough. Nikki was flirting with a low grade fever, no result from the bone marrow biopsy yet, and she was loosing her hair in big chunks. As the day progressed her fever subsided. Later on in the day Sherrill came up with Nikki's cranial prosthesis's (Wigs). Nikki then got the news that the preliminary results of her bone marrow biopsy are still clean and they are beginning to see the early generation of healthy WBC's. Praise God. The last part of the day or should I say early morning hours (1am) she made the decision to shave her head. I did my best job to date and it looks great (GI Jane). So when everything was said and done the day came full circle. Nikki today got through a big milestone, as I am sure all you women can appreciate. She had a tough time letting go of her hair, but after talking for an hour and a half she was ready to make the transition. This will help her emotionally in a big way by not having to look at the inevitable of loosing her hair slowly, and the mental anguish that accompanies that process. Thanks to everyone for the prayers regarding her bone marrow biopsy and please keep the cards coming, we look forward to opening them every morning. God Bless everyone and lets just pray for those WBC's to develop.
