What a Week

Well this week was a week of ups and downs. Nikki got the results of her matching with her siblings and all three came back as no match. We had a really tough day on Wednesday. Nikki and I were expecting one of them to be a match since she had a 75% chance. After that we had to go into the National Registry and we found no luck there either. They are looking into the Foreign pool to see if there is a match since she is 1/4 Japanese it will be tough. The fact that she has a minority strand in her DNA makes the probabilities less likely. The good news is that they did find several matches in the cord pool and have put them on hold. Which means she can use an umbilical cord for her transplant. This cord comes from a baby that was born and they saved the cord after birth. They will be able to use the stem cells from that baby's cord to help Nikki fight her cancer. We are still hoping to make the October 30th timeline since the cords are readily available, and that would mean we would not have to do another consolidation as well as be home for Rykers B-Day and the holidays. We know God is at work, it is sometimes hard to see the trees through the forest though at times. Please continue to pray for Nikki and specifically that we can keep the date of 10-30-09. We are pleading with God to make this day happen as we would like to enjoy his B-Day along with Rykers at home. God Bless you and we will update you next weekend.
